The comprehensive development of a country must contemplate a vision of the important limitations that the population faces and the way in which its incorporation into development is perceived, having a horizon of equality in it; considering this population as a social force that, as such, requires attention and opportunities.
According to studies carried out with the latest Living Standards Survey (ENV) carried out in Panama, it was shown that, of the 615 existing townships in the country, an important proportion of them, totally rural, have low levels of satisfaction basic needs. These communities showed deficiencies in their homes such such as lack of drinking water, sanitary services and electricity. To these situations of lack of basic infrastructure are added to the problems of education, health and road accessibility. Rural infrastructure such as roads are very important, since They boost communication and commerce activities for people with fewer resources.
According to the data, there are still places that do not have good roads. conditions where people have access to few or no services.
In this context, the Lymberg Foundation considers it important to provide specific transportation support to this vulnerable population located in rural areas with difficult access, with the aim of contributing to their social well-being, including in manycases saving lives.
